Long Beach North Village Center

This site testing study explored building layout options for a 3-acre block east of Atlantic Avenue between 59th Street and South Street in Long Beach. The objective was to complement a planned mixed-use development on the west side of Atlantic Avenue with a new library and additional retail uses while potentially integrating existing buildings. We developed several alternatives that proposed streetscape improvements along Atlantic Avenue, enhanced connectivity with the western block and within the site, strengthening of street edges, and minimizing the size of parking areas. Each alternative included data for building areas and number of parking spaces provided, as well as site, building, and loading access information. The city used the study to make an informed decision for the future development of the site.
