Q: Your profile highlights your unique perspective as a designer with private sector experience who's passionate about connectivity and community. Can you share an example of a project where you successfully merged your private sector’s insight with a strong emphasis on creating vibrant communities?

A: I have been fortunate to work closely with private developers for most of my 22 year career. Through that experience, it is evident that the best solutions are born of an iterative process that tests our assumptions and can simultaneously solve multiple problems and enhance the surrounding community through elegant simplicity. One such example is the District at Latimer Square, developed with Trinitas Ventures. The project carefully arranged new apartment buildings around a public framework of streets and parks making the new parks and connectivity provided by the project equally accessible and welcoming to new and existing residents alike. Simultaneously we were also able to simplify the design of the buildings improving efficiency contributing to the feasibility and construction of the project.
