Teaching Urban Design at Cal
Urban Field Studio has been long-time contributors to local Universities and programs. Jane Lin, Heidi Sokolowsky, and Frank Fuller have frequently attended class reviews and have been invited as guest lectures to courses at UC Berkeley, San Jose State, and University of San Francisco. In Fall 2018, Jane Lin began to teach as a lecturer for the College of Environmental Design at UC Berkeley. She taught Environmental Design 201, the Master of Urban Design Studio with John Ellis, at Mithun. The class included 18 graduate students beginning their program for the Master of Urban Design (MUD). This Fall 2019, Jane Lin is teaching City Planning 140: Urban Design and Placemaking, an undergraduate course for over 100 students in the College of Environmental Design. The class was previously taught by Elizabeth Macdonald and more recently by John Ellis. The class will include three field trips - to Oakland Downtown, to Hayes Valley and South of Market in San Francisco.
