Question 2

Q: With years of experience in urban design, you've witnessed the evolution of cities. How do you navigate the delicate balance between preserving a city's history and heritage while also driving forward with transformative design concepts?

A: I think a good concept for a new project often is derived from its context and can emphasize the importance of its history. Respecting the context does not mean imitation; rather, finding an approach that reflects today’s needs and architectural expression while integrating well with the surrounding will be more authentic. The best cities have always evolved over time, so developing a framework that allows for change while strenghting the unique character of a place is an objective to strive for. Community engagament plays an important role in this process as well.
