The neighborhood located at Thornton and Sycamore has been struggling for years and now has an opportunity to redefine itself. Urban Field Studio, worked on a team with Lexington Planning, Bottomley Associates and BKF led by Rhoades Planning Group. The team worked with this small city to prepare for the next wave of new development through zoning updates and a vision for revitalizing the commercial center. Site tests were done to inform zoning modifications and development standards. Streetscape improvements included wider sidewalks, bike lanes, and a road diet. Plaza redesign, public art, and other public improvements were also considered to strengthen district identity.
